"For hereunto were ye called; because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps." 1 Peter 2:21
I thank God for the time I had in Happy Valley. The community has been most gracious and tolerant of a newcomer. What a beautiful and vital community in service to Our Lord.
After 2-1/2 days of waiting on an opening in the weather, I arrived in Makkovik, Labrador after flying over an expanse of mountains and frozen waters inland as well as the ocean. We dropped passengers at the community of Natuashish; one of two Innu communities in Labrador known as caribou hunters. More info, see: http://www.heritage.nf.ca/aboriginal/innu.html , then on to Nain and Hopedale before arriving here; population 380. Makkovik is a quiet & beautiful coastal town relying on skidoo for travel. The harbor is thickly covered in ice and snow and is a playground for the community during the winter. The Moravian church, the only church in town, overlooks the entire harbor. Her doors remain unlocked all the time. Worship is Sunday at 4pm (Atlantic time).
I've met up with several youth from summer camps already. They are looking forward to musical and worship opportunities. The school principal has invited me for 'musical' visits. God is so good! I'll continue to share as time allows and this ministry unfolds. Many, many thanks for your continued prayerful support. Please pray for the youth and their openness to the Gospel through music; choral, handchimes, and instrumental. May their hearts be opened and God's warmth spread throughout the community through them. Gratefully yours, glenna
